Accessibility Statement for Storefronts

The following statement does not apply to this site. It is a description of how accessible our web application is and serves as a template for our customers. Updated on May 31, 2025.

—————————————

This website is operated by [Insert University/Department Name], using the e-lucid licensing platform to support access to research-based technologies, content, and services. The site is built and maintained using a standard storefront template provided by e-lucid.

We are committed to providing a digital experience that is accessible to as many users as possible, including people with disabilities. This statement outlines how the site performs against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standard.

How accessible this site is

This storefront is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Most core features are accessible, and users can:

  • Navigate using a keyboard
  • Resize text up to 200% without losing content or functionality
  • Understand and use key components like forms, modals, and accordions
  • Use assistive technologies to read and interact with page content

However, we are aware of the following areas where accessibility can be improved:

  • Some form fields do not clearly state input limits (e.g. maximum characters or quantities)
  • Interactive components such as accordions and navigation links may not fully expose their role or state to screen readers
  • Some visual elements (e.g. buttons, labels, or icons) do not meet minimum contrast requirements
  • Status messages shown via tooltips or toast alerts may not be announced automatically
  • The platform does not provide a warning before session timeout
  • The skip link to bypass repeated content is not yet available
  • Some content created by store administrators (e.g. headings or custom form fields) may vary in accessibility quality

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are actively addressing these gaps by:

  • Adding support for ARIA roles and accessible state indicators in interactive components
  • Improving keyboard navigation and focus behaviour
  • Enhancing visual contrast and focus styles
  • Introducing a skip link
  • Encouraging store administrators to follow accessibility best practices when entering content

Reporting problems

If you find any accessibility issues, or need content in an alternative format (such as large print or audio), please use the Contact Us form available in the website footer. Select “Accessibility report” from the form options to ensure your request is directed to the appropriate team.

About this statement

This statement was prepared in July 2025, based on a detailed accessibility review using the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) 2.5Rev, aligned to WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

The audit was carried out on e-lucid’s standard storefront template. While each store uses this shared foundation, some visual and structural customisations may result in small differences in accessibility. We will continue reviewing and improving the platform as updates are released.
